COVID Safe Practice:

We are committed to your safety. We follow all federal and state guidelines and recommendations. All of our clinical staff have been fully vaccinated for COVID; each room has its own medical grade HEPA filter; the rooms and all contact surfaces are thoroughly cleaned between patients.

Ketamine is an effective treatment for many difficult conditions including depression and chronic pain.

Ketamine, one of the most widely used medications in the world, has traditionally been used for anesthesia. Research has shown that low dose ketamine is highly effective in treating refractory depression and chronic pain. Even in cases of severe depression unresponsive to other medical treatment, ketamine infusions are effective for about ⅔ of patients. Unlike many other conventional therapies, people can have profound relief from their symptoms within hours of ketamine treatment. In addition to depression ketamine treats bipolar disorder, chronic pain, PTSD, addiction and more.

What Makes Insight Ketamine Unique

Choosing a doctor can be a challenging task for patients in any situation, and it is equally challenging for those considering ketamine therapy. There are a variety of clinic formats, methods of medication administration, and different practices that can be overwhelming for patients. Here’s how we differentiate ourselves from other clinics:

One-on-one sessions: During the individual IV sessions one of the doctors will be sitting with you the entire time. We feel this is important to ensure that you feel safe so you can fully experience the medicine.

No unnecessary medications: Since we sit with patients and provide emotional support, we have not felt the need to administer medications, such as benzodiazepines, to calm them. Benzodiazepines may dampen the effectiveness of the overall ketamine therapy.

Music: We subscribe to a music platform purpose built for ketamine therapy. It was designed by a collaboration of neuroscientists, therapists and musicians to carry people through an emotional arc of experience that we choose based on the patient’s preferences and needs. The music is an essential aspect of “set and setting” – crucial to this kind of experience.

We are an independent, physician-run practice. We are not a multi-site, venture capitalist driven operation. Ken and Stewart are the owners and operators.

Our treatment protocols are based on the most recent science and our experience of having done thousands of infusions. We tailor each session based on the patients’ needs, and response to prior treatments.

Post-session integration: We schedule our visits for 120 minutes so our patients have plenty of time to recover. Afterward, we spend about 30 minutes discussing the experience and how to integrate it into the context of their lives. During this time, we’ll discuss meditation, podcasts, and books that we feel are pertinent to your situation. We still encourage patients to pursue further integration with a therapist, but these conversations afterward are fascinating and one of the reasons why we love this work.

Group Sessions

Our one-on-one IV sessions are central to our practice, but we understand the financial hurdles they may pose. We recently started offering group ketamine sessions for patients who have completed at least one individual session. The setting—including music, eye shades, and physician presence—will remain consistent. However, the medication will be administered via two intramuscular injections 15 minutes apart (rather than as a continuous IV infusion). This allows us to comfortably accommodate four patients in reclining chairs within the same space. The prerequisite of an IV session allows us to determine appropriate dosing and ensure patients are suited for a group environment.

Begin Your Path to a Happier and Healthier Life

Getting started

Congratulations on taking the first step toward a better life. Once you have contacted us through the website or by phone, you will be called by one of our staff. This is an opportunity to ask questions about ketamine and to help you decide if it is the right treatment for you. There is no charge for this consultation.

Medical Evaluation

When you are ready, we can schedule an appointment with Dr. Stewart or Dr. Anderson for a complete history and physical examination. This gives us a chance to see if there are any medical issues or medications that might be of concern and you’re able to meet your physician-guide.

Intention Setting

Once your first session is scheduled, you will receive information on how to put yourself into the right mindset before the session. We will also go over setting intentions for your treatment. Setting intentions is about providing some language and foundation for why you sought out this therapy and what you are hoping to gain from it.

Expectations

After arriving, we will get you settled into a recliner in one of the private treatment rooms. Your physician will go over the plan and answer any questions you may have while one of our excellent technicians places your IV and checks your vital signs. When you are ready, your eye mask and noise cancelling headphones will be placed.

The Experience

The experience is dependent on the dose and the patient. It is most commonly described as a pleasurable, dreamlike state.  There may be new perspectives and often deep and meaningful insights. Often patients will feel a sense of distance from the body and sense of self, replaced by an experience of connection with something larger – an expansion of the boundary of conscious awareness that can be a powerful and positive transformative experience.

Re-entry

After the infusion is complete, we will sit with you until you are fully recovered.  During that time we can discuss your experience and begin the integrative process. We do recommend working with your therapist for further integration in the days and weeks that follow the treatment.
